In an email sent to employees earlier on Thursday, Twitter said, ‘If you are at the office or on your way to the office, please go home.’ The social media company said on Friday it will go through a difficult process of cutting staff worldwide in an effort to get Twitter back on a healthy path.
The company also said it will temporarily close offices worldwide and suspend all access controls to ensure the security of every employee as well as Twitter systems and customer information.
Twitter said employees who will be laid off will be notified of next steps via their personal email addresses. Those who will not be retrenched will be informed through official e-mail.

On Wednesday (November 2), Bloomberg reported that new owner Elon Musk plans to cut half of Twitter’s workforce to cut costs. According to reports, the affected staff will be informed on Friday. Currently, Twitter has 7,500 employees. About 3 thousand 700 workers will lose their jobs as a result.
Meanwhile, authorities ordered some Twitter workers to work 12 hours a day and 7 days a week.
